I'm so glad you are joining me on this adventure. I have recently discovered a love for thrift-store shopping and repurposing old items in a new and fun way. After attending a craft show this fall I thought, "I can do this." With that thought, Vintage Companion, was born. I am still in the very begininng stages of selling my treasures, and I wanted to share that journey with you.
I found this little vintage treasure at my local thrift store and immediately saw potential. One side has a little mirror (as pictured) and the other side is plain. After a little research I realized that I could bring a little pizzazz to this purse by adding paint!
The tools of the trade are pictured below. It was a very simple process. I simply held the stencil to the purse, used a piece of fine sandpaper to rough up the dots before painting, and then took the little stencil tool to paint the polka dots. Because the purse is not a flat surface, it was a little challenging to make the dots perfect. After removing the stencil I simply used the stamping tool to make the dots more circular.
Here's the end product. Isn't it cute?
Stay tuned for my next purse project. It involves sewing. My sewing skills are not where I would like them to be so I am going to involve my mom in this upcoming project. (Thanks, Mom!)
Also, stay tuned for information on my etsy shop.
Guys, I'm not kidding when I say this... when I think of all my projects I get so excited my heart skips a beat. I hope to have at least one tutorial a week so you can keep up with all that's happening and maybe be inspired to do a few of your own projects.
